Ms. Ivana Lizdek
Shodan - 1st Degree Black Belt
Ivana first began training in the summer of 2004 and earned her first degree black belt in March of 2011.
Apart from training consistently with Sensei Adette Rice, Ivana greatly enjoys teaching younger martial artists in the dojo. While teaching, she strongly encourages the development of a strong work ethic, patience, and respect for self and others. Ivana also believes in fostering balance in karate training (the hard versus the soft aspects of the art) and life in general and that failure should not be feared.
When training at the dojo, Ivana works towards understanding the microscopic movements that make up each technique. She continuously pushes her students to understand the purpose behind the techniques they are taught.
Currently, Ivana is completing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Waterloo.
